Robert Garcia says his fighter doesn't have to box too much, but would be best served to use angles against Russell

In the moments following his latest win, Conor Benn demanded stronger competition. The message has been received, as the unbeaten welterweight will endure arguably his stiffest test to date. The 24-year-old second generation boxer will face veteran trialhorse Adrian Granados to headline the second season premiere of Matchroom Fight Camp. The event takes place July 31, live from Matchroom Boxing headquarters in Brentwood, Essex, England. "I'm delighted to begin our game-changing partnership with the leading global sports streaming platform DAZN with another sizzling summer of Fight Camp action from our stunning HQ in Brentwood, Essex," Eddie Hearn, chairman of Matchroom Boxing said upon revealing the three-week series lineup Monday. "One of the hottest properties in the Welterweight division Conor Benn gets things underway on July 31 when he puts his WBA Continental Title on the line against Adrian Granados."

The third time proved to be a charm for the stateside version of Liam Smith. The former junior middleweight titlist from Liverpool, England picked up his first career win in the United States, scoring a 10-round decision over veteran spoiler Roberto Garcia in their preliminary bout Friday evening at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.

Technically, everybody made weight in Phoenix. Daniel Jacobs and Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. both came within the modified contracted limit for Friday's DAZN-streamed headliner live from Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. Their originally scheduled super middleweight contest has since been altered to a maximum of 173 pounds to benefit Chavez Jr., who has once again struggled to honor a contracted limit.

WITH THE NATION now in election-mode, it was our team last week carrying out a bit of canvassing with what you might call the Green (and gold) party for our fighters at the WBC convention in Cancun.

Roberto Garcia wants to reclaim his WBC Silver Belt Championship and what better way than to match him up with England’s Liam Smith for the vacant title. Garcia (41-4, 24 KOs), who has been in training since losing his Silver belt to Martin Murray in a 12-round unanimous decision on June 23, is ready to take on the durable Smith (26-2-1, 14 KOs) for the belt.

Welterweight Brandon Rios is short an opponent for his return to the ring on September 22nd and Roberto Garcia is ready to step right in. “I’m ready to go,” said Garcia. “I’ve just finished a two-week sparring session with Shawn Porter, so I’m itching to return to the ring against Rios. Let’s make it happen.”

Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin’s rematch is all set for Mexican Independence Day on September 15th in Las Vegas, but what better way to add a little war to the card than having two Mexicans do battle.
