Timothy Bradley heads into a 12-round welterweight fight with Brandon Rios on Saturday looking to jumpstart his career and show there are no lingering effects from a less than inspiring win in his last outing. Timothy Bradley celebrates after winning a controversial decision against Jessie Vargas in their Interim WBO World Title welterweight fight at StubHub Center on June 27, 2015 in Los Angeles, California
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs) will have the best year of his career in 2016, according to his father - the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. According to Sr., Julio wants to return to the training arms of Freddie Roach, who previously trained the Mexican star for several years. After Chavez Jr. parted with longtime promoter Top Rank earlier this year, he broke away from Roach and hired Joe Goossen. That relationship lasted one fight and then he hired Robert Garcia.
One of the sport’s best fighters returns to the ring to battle one of the game’s most popular sluggers when WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING: TIMOTHY BRADLEY JR. VS. BRANDON RIOS AND VASYL LOMACHENKO VS. ROMULO KOASICHA is presented SATURDAY, NOV. 7 at 9:30 p.m. (live ET/tape-delayed PT) from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, exclusively on HBO.
LAS VEGAS, NV – One day away from what many expect to be the Fight of the Year between two-division world champion TIMOTHY "Desert Storm" BRADLEY JR. and former world champion BRANDON "Bam Bam" RIOS, Rios' trainer ROBERT GARCIA has heard enough about TEDDY ATLAS, Bradley’s new trainer, and how they will control the fight.
The last we saw of Macos Maidana was last September where he lost for the second time against Floyd Mayweather in 2014. And if you've seen recent pictures of 'El Chino' - it seems as though boxing is the last thing on his mind. His trainer, Robert Garcia, doesn't believe he'll be seeing him anytime soon - if ever - in a boxing ring again.
After his July 18th victory over Marcos Reyes in El Paso, Texas, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. underwent surgery on his left hand, which he damaged early on in that fight. Since that point, Chavez Jr. has been out of action but trainer Robert Garcia - who prepared him for that bout - expects him back in the gym soon.
LAS VEGAS, NV. - Two-division world champion TIMOTHY "Desert Storm" BRADLEY JR. and former world champion BRANDON "Bam Bam" RIOS, both who have fought in Fights of the Year in 2013 and 2012, respectively, will collide for Bradley's World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight world championship crown in an all-Southern California showdown. Bradley vs. Rios will take place on Saturday, November 7, at the Thomas & Mack Center, located on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing, beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. The super flyweight world champion of the World Boxing Council, Carlos Cuadras, is now training in Maywood, California with coach Rudy Hernandez. A few days ago, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum informed BoxingScene.com of a possible fight scenario for 2016. On November 7th, WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (32-1, 12KOs) will face Brand Rios (33-2-1, 24KOs) in an HBO televised bout from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The winner could be in line for a lucrative opportunity against the winner of the November 21 showdown between WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto and Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
There are many interesting sidebars to the upcoming welterweight title fight between Timothy Bradley Jr. and Brandon Rios. Their bout takes place November 7 at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, with HBO to televise as part of its World Championship Boxing series. Ironically, Rios is viewed as the wilder fighter of the two yet is actually far more consistent. He is who he is in the ring – a no-nonsense slugger who boxes when he has to, but lives for the knockout. He’s had the same trainer (Robert Garcia), manager (Cameron Dunkin) and promoter (Top Rank) throughout his career, and there are no surprises when he gets in the ring.
