The super flyweight world champion of the World Boxing Council, Carlos Cuadras, is now training in Maywood, California with coach Rudy Hernandez.
Cuadras (33-0-1, 26KOs) initially started training with Robert Garcia in Riverside, California, as he prepares for his fifth defense of the green and gold on November 28 in Japan against Koki Eto.
According to Cuadras, Garcia's attention was mostly focused on Brandon Rios, who is preparing for his November 7th bout with WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley. Because he required more attention for the fight with Eto, his promoter Akihiko Honda sent him in the direction of Hernandez.
"I moved over to Rudy Hernandez. Robert was very busy with the preparation of Brandon and it's obvious he was going to pay more attention to him. I'm okay with it, I think it was a good decision. Mr. Honda recommended Rudy to me because he worked for a long time with his brother Genaro "Chicanito" Hernandez and he also collaborated with Jorge Linares and 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez," said Cuadas to ESPN Deportes.
"We are training in Maywood, is our first week and we are working well, we are engaging fast. I definitely do not expect this to have any affect on me because we are putting our full effort into everything, the workloads have risen and we've responded well."
