Two-division world champion Jose “Sniper” Pedraza will return to the ring on July 23 to face fellow former champion Richard Commey in a crossroads fight in the state of Minnesota.

Jamel Herring (23-3) can still make the 130 pound super featherweight limit comfortably. The 2012 U.S. Olympian last fought in October when he lost his WBO super featherweight title to Shakur Stevenson in Atlanta.

A seven-figure audience tuned in Saturday night for what evolved into a compelling clash between heavily favored Vasiliy Lomachenko and Richard Commey.

NEW YORK – Lou DiBella has always touted Richard Commey’s courage. Even Commey’s promoter was surprised, though, that the former IBF lightweight champion made it through a treacherous seventh round Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. Vasiliy Lomachenko knocked Commey to the canvas with a straight left hand in that round and went all out to knock out the determined underdog.

A pair of former champions highlighted the weekend, both picking up their second win in a row since a loss to a younger tiger in the sports ranks, both with an eye on more glory ahead. While one is closer to his prime than the other, both remain near the top of their divisions.

Vasiliy Lomachenko doesn't have his lightweight titles anymore, but he is still one of the division's most dangerous fighters. Lomachenko, the former three-weight world champion, punished former lightweight champion Richard "RC" Commey, winning a wide unanimous decision over the Ghanaian in front of 8,555 fans Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

By Keith Idec - NEW YORK – Vasiliy Lomachenko couldn’t finish off Richard Commey in the seventh round Saturday night, but he did more than enough to beat him. Lomachenko knocked Commey to the canvas in the seventh round, landed the harder shots with more consistency and beat the former IBF lightweight champion by unanimous decision in the main event of a 10-fight card at Madison Square Garden. All three judges – Eric Marlinski (119-108), Tony Paolillo (117-110) and Tom Schreck (119-108) – scored Lomachenko the winner of their 12-round lightweight bout.

NEW YORK – Lou DiBella hopes another lightweight his company promotes pulls off a huge upset Saturday night. Two weeks after George Kambosos Jr. shook up the boxing world by beating Teofimo Lopez, DiBella will sit ringside upstairs from Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater, this time in the main arena, to watch Richard Commey challenge Vasiliy Lomachenko in a 12-round, 135-pound fight. Commey, a former IBF lightweight champion, will try to redeem himself at the same venue where Lopez stopped him in the second round of their December 2019 bout.

NEW YORK – Vasiliy Lomachenko still would welcome a rematch with Teofimo Lopez. The catch, unfortunately for boxing fans who want to see them fight again, is that Lomachenko would only consider it if their second fight also is contested at the lightweight limit of 135 pounds. Lopez almost certainly will move up to the junior welterweight division, and perhaps slightly above its 140-pound maximum, for his first fight of 2022.
