The score were 98-92, 97-93, 97-93. Porter went to get Diaz's respect early by coming forward with multiple combinations. Diaz picked up his workrate in the second and was throwing combinations in close when Porter would let his hands go. They were slugging away in the third, with both landing good shots to the head. At the start of the fourth, Porter came out throwing bombs on the inside. Diaz took them well and started to return fire. Porter was starting to hurt Diaz at the end of the fourth and rocked him early in the fifth.

It was recently announced that "Showtime" Shawn Porter (21-0-1) will return to the ring on September 12th against Julio Diaz (40-8-1). The fight will be a rematch of their split draw that took place this past December in Los Angeles, CA. Porter is currently in the middle of his training camp and said that he is excited to have a chance to avenge the only blemish on his near spotless record. "We are working extremely hard. We are excited and we are ready to take this fight head on man," Porter stated. Diaz last fought in April when he lost an unanimous decision to Amir Khan. Diaz dropped Khan in the 4th round and had the Brit on shaky legs on more than a few occasions. Porter insists that he didn't overlook Diaz in their first fight and said that he definitely won't be looking past him on September 12th. He said that he has been working on correcting some of the mistakes he made in the first fight.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that he finalized a tripleheader for September 12th, with three high stakes contests taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The card will be presented as a fight week appetizer, being presented two days before the huge Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul Alvarez Showtime Pay-Per-View, also being staged at the MGM. The tripleheader will be televised by Fox Sports 2 (formerly known as Fuel TV).

Golden Boy Promotions will promote two televised fight cards prior to the anticipated showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, matchmaker Robert Diaz told Boxingscene.com on Monday afternoon.
