The date has moved around a few times but it appears that the Deontay Wilder-Luis Ortiz rematch appears to have landed on November 23rd.

Their first fight took place in March, 2018 with Wilder winning via 10th round knockout in an exciting thriller.  Ortiz had Wilder nearly out on his feet in the 7th round but the American was able to recover and stop Ortiz 3 rounds later.

In a recent conversation with BoxingScene.com, former heavyweight champion Joseph Parker's trainer Kevin Barry discussed Wilder's upcoming rematch.

Wilder and Tyson Fury are penciled in for a rematch in February, 2020 but the rematch is contingent on Wilder defeating Ortiz again and Fury defeating Otto Wallin next week in Las Vegas.

“Well obviously Deontay is in a lot tougher than what Tyson is in. Ortiz showed in the first fight that he is still very capable. He found a way to land that left hand on Deontay in the first fight and he shook him up for a round but you know Deontay showed a champion’s heart by surviving and coming back and then putting on display his uncommon one punch knockout power and then getting him out of there," Barry told BoxingScene.com.

"Personally, I think the rematch will be a lot easier for Wilder. I think that Ortiz has looked very cumbersome in his last couple of fights. Both of them went the distance. He looked like a fighter who was starting to show his age. Some people will say he didn’t have the big challenge in front of him to get up for by the opponents he was in with I think he should of made the fights a lot easier than what they were.”

Parker will return to the ring on October in London when he faces Dereck Chisora.
