There is not yet any official confirmation — nor any official denial — regarding a report that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. tested positive for marijuana after his Sept. 15 fight with middleweight champion Sergio Martinez.

That report, by Ben Thompson of FightHype.com, cited anonymous sources who said that Chavez’s post-fight sample “had levels of THC consistent with the use of the drug.” Thompson’s sources told him that both Chavez’s and Martinez’s promoters had been notified about the result.

Keith Kizer, the executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, was not yet able to say whether this report is true, as he would not speak to the matter until all of the results from the Sept. 15 cards in Las Vegas are back.

“I cannot confirm or deny anyone until I get all the results,” Kizer told BoxingScene.com via email. “Hopefully I will have all of them by Friday afternoon.”
