IBF junior middleweight champion Carlos Molina says he was not surprised when Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) announced that he would facing Alfredo Angulo on March 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. For several weeks, Molina and Angulo were the two frontrunners to get the March assignment. WBA interim-champ Erislandy Lara was never under serious consideration.

"Canelo selected the easiest and least dangerous option between myself, Lara and Angulo. I knew that Canelo would do that. He never wanted the fight, he never wanted to give me the opportunity. All I can do is to keep on fighting and keep on winning," Molina said.

Molina (22-5-2, 6KOs) might return on March 15th, a week after the Canelo-Angulo clash, against Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs) in a rematch. They fought to a lackluster draw in 2011. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer mentioned to BoxingScene.com that he might explore the option of matching Molina against undefeated Jermall Charlo.
