During a recent interview with GMA News TV in the Philippines, pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao admitted that he is seriously thinking about retirement before the end of the year to pursue his political career. Pacquiao is looking to return to the ring in October in what may be the final bout on his record. He plans to make a final decision after the fight.

Pacquiao will either fight the winner of the July 18 bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez or Miguel Cotto, who defends his WBO welterweight title against Joshua Clottey on June 13.

Pacquiao wants to make a run to become a congressman in the Sarangani Province in 2010. In the past, he ran for a congressional seat in South Cotabato and lost decisively to Darlene Antonino Custodio.
