Maccarinelli vs McPhilbin Grudge Rematch Set For June 22
Cruiserweight Shane McPhilbin (8-3, 5KOs) will get his chance at revenge on June 22 at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton. Last month at the same venue, McPhilbin was on his way to knocking out Enzo Maccarinelli (35-5, 27KOs) in the first round, but the timekeeper rang the bell 47 seconds early to end the round. Enzo was down twice in the first three rounds and badly hurt. He managed to hand on and won a twelve round unanimous decision to take McPhilbin's British title. The British Board ordered an immediate rematch between the two of them.
McPhilbin Hopes Enzo Follows Through on Their Rematch
Enzo Maccarinelli's British cruiserweight title win over former champion Shane McPhilbin in Wolverhampton last Friday night was supposed to be a chance for the popular Welshman to lift the domestic 200lb crown before resuming his assault on the light-heavyweight rankings. Many believed that McPhilbin, who won the Lonsdale belt with a thrilling final round TKO of Leon Williams in January, would put up a game, albeit losing, defence of his crown and allow 'Big Mac' to win a title that had eluded him during his WBU and WBO world title winning career at the weight.
Frank Warren on The Maccarinelli-McPhilbin Controversy

New British cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli admitted he lost focus tonight as he took away Shane McPhilbin’s 200lb Lonsdale belt and offered to step up and give the Bulwell boxer a return in the future.

Maccarinelli Decisions McPhilbin in a Controversial Fight
Civic Hall, Wolverhampton, West Midlands - In his first fight in fifteen months after a bitter loss to John Simpson, Nothern Ireland's native Martin Lindsay, a former British featherweight king, looked predictably rusty and a bit out of shape against Polish journeyman Maurycy Gojko (19-30-1, 6 KOs). However, Lindsay fought through his inactivity to a six-round decision and reminded of his former self in the closing round of the contest, where he had clearly dominated the Pole. Marcus McDonnell, a sole referee of the fight, scored it 60-54 (same as BoxingScene) for Lindsay, who is now 18-1, with 6 KOs.
