British star Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) has a very good feeling about facing WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) at a catch-weight of 155-pounds.
The HBO Pay-Per-View headliner takes place on May 7th at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Khan is training hard and putting on size, but says he is not going to eat his way to 155, which is eight pounds above his normal fighting weight of 147-pounds. He is focusing on weight training and adding natural muscle to his frame.
Khan says that he walks around at 165-pounds and has to work very hard to squeeze down to the welterweight limit. For this camp there is no calorie counting. Many believe Canelo will be too big on fight night, because the Mexican superstar rehydrates to the light heavyweight limit.
While Canelo will have the size and power, Khan feels confident that his speed, power and fast movement will be more than enough to beat the bigger man.
"It's a massive fight for me, but these are the type of fights that I belong in. Look, I'm going to go in there and I'm going to beat him. A lot of people say that I'm jumping the gun too far, but styles win fights, and having the type of style that I have - the movement, the speed and everything - is something that will give Canelo Alvarez a lot of problems," Khan told Sky Sports.
"Time will tell, but even though I'm going up to 155 that's a good weight for me because I'm not killing myself to make the weight. I'm really a natural 165 fighter, so 155 should be no problem. But I'm not going to eat up to the weight, Im going to train up to the weight."
