Sauerland Event won the purse bids for WBA super middleweight champ Mikkel Kessler´s defense against Gusmyl Perdomo with an offer for 2.114.000 USD and the fight will go ahead September 12 in Herning, Denmark, or Flensburg, Germany.

 

WBA light heavyweight champ Gabriel Campillo defends the title August 15 in Kazachstan against undefeeated hotshot Beibut Shumenov. Campillo comes in as an underdog but then again not many believed he could beat Hugo Hernan Garay either.

 

Amin Asikainen first had Sebastian Sylvester as co-challenger for the vacant EBU middleweight title. Sylvester then got a world title shot and was replaced by Russian Dmitry Pirog, who´s now replaced by Brittish champ Matthew Macklin. The EBU have set August 27 as deadline for agreement or pursebids. The winner of Asikainen vs Macklin will then have to face Pirog.

 

Laszlo Orban has passed away in Budapest at the age of 59. Orban won a silver at lightweight in the Olympic games 72 and won the European championships at featherweight in 69.

 

Swiss welterweight Roberto Belge, 22-0 and reigning IBC champ, is sidelined with a bad injury and will probably be out for the rest of the year.

 

Flyweights Christophe Rodrigues and Andrea Sarritzu clash for the vacant EBU title September 18 in Alghero, Italy, with OPI 2000 promoting.

 

Alexander Abraham defends the EE-EU jr middle crown against Khaniar Azizov on August 29 in Halle / Westfalen on the undercard to Ramirez vs Huck. Azizov, 6-2-1, holds the Russian title. Abraham is 25-0-1 but will always live with the tag "not as good as his big brother".
