Anthony Mundine's fight against former IBF welterweight world champion Joshua Clottey has been delayed. Mundine was set to clash with Clottey at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on April 2 but the bout has been pushed back a week to allow more time for Australian clearances to be processed for the New York-based Ghanaian.
Heavyweight contender Odlanier Solis arrived in Istanbul (Turkey). The 2004 Olympic gold medalist will face US veteran Tony "Tiger" Thompson on March 22nd in Tekirdag. It is the clash of two former Klitschko foes: In March 2011 Solis lost to then WBC champion Vitali Klitschko in Cologne (Germany) due to a knee injury; Thompson had already two shots at Vitali's younger brother Wladimir in 2008 and 2012 but lost both fights.

Scores were 100-89 (twice) and 99-90. There were no knockdowns in the bout, but Johnson was docked a point for a takedown for tossing Clottey to the canvas. The Ghanan fighter is looking to return to the ring in the month of September. Clottey has been inactive since his 2nd round knockout victory over Calvin Green in November 2011. Prior to that fight he had been inactive since his unanimous decision loss to Manny Pacquiao in March, 2010. He is looking to campaign in the junior middleweight division after spending most of his career at 147 pounds.
A deal is basically wrapped up for IBO super middleweight champion Thomas Oosthuizen (21-0, 13 KOs) to make a defense of his title against undefeated Brandon Gonzalez (17-0, 10 KOs) on June 29th as part of an HBO televised tripleheader. The main event features a middleweight fight between WBA/IBO middleweight king Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 23 KOs) and top contender Matthew Macklin (29-4, 20 KOs). The card takes place at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, CT.
According to the Daily Guide, Emmanuel Clottey, the older brother of former champion Joshua Clottey, has accused the latter of stifling his boxing career. Emmanuel, a junior welterweight boxer, claimed Joshua is roadblocking his attempts to make potential fights. Emmanuel says he returned home from the United Kingdom three years ago after he and Joshua had agreed that he (Emmanuel) should take care of their sick father.
