Promoter Ben Shalom of Boxxer is standing firm that light heavyweights Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez will collide in a WBA world title eliminator.

BoxingScene.com reported last month that Buatsi and Azeez would face each other in a high-stakes fight in the fall.

But, rival promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom would later state that he was advised that Azeez was a free agent and as a result was trying to get him in the ring with WBA champion Dmitry Bivol.

Shalom would quickly respond to Hearn's statements by making it clear that Azeez was under contract with Boxxer.

He now indicates that Buatsi and Azeez have agreed to fight.

"Both fighters have agreed to fight each other," Shalom told Sky Sports. "It's flattering when other promoters are talking about your fighters but Dan Azeez is with Boxxer, he's one of our proudest achievements.

"Finding the fighters that don't necessarily get those opportunities, the fact we've gone from just about British level and come through English, Commonwealth and now he's even being talked about at world level, it's an incredible journey.

"The Buatsi fight is one they've both agreed to, it's definitely one that happens this year, which British boxing fans are hugely excited about."

According to Shalom, there have been no approaches from Matchroom to make a fight between Bivol and Azeez.

Shalom is willing to entertain an offer, but explains that nobody has reached out as of yet.

"Dan Azeez will fight for world titles, as will Joshua Buatsi," added Shalom.

"The light heavyweight division is on fire. If Matchroom want to come to us and make an offer for Dan to fight Bivol we'd consider it at the right time. But we've not received any approach."

Buatsi made his return to the ring after a year out in May, with a twelve round unanimous decision over Pawel Stepian.

And for his part, Azeez captured the European title with a twelfth round stoppage over Thomas Faure in Paris in March.
