Josh Warrington: record, next fight and profile →
Josh Warrington is back on the horse and hoping to once again become a world champion when he faces Leigh Wood for the WBA featherweight title. The fight comes 10 months after losing his IBF title in a tough fight with Luis Alberto Lopez.
With an undisputed clash off the table, Terri Harper has once again landed the next best opportunity. Matchroom Boxing has resurrected Harper’s previously postponed WBA junior middleweight title defense versus former undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus. The bout will take place October 7 on the undercard of the recently announced Leigh Wood-Josh Warrington WBA featherweight title fight at Utliita Arena in Sheffield, England.
Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom indicates that there is a possibility that the winner of the upcoming fight between Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington would be matched against Joe Cordina.

Otabek Kholmatov will have to wait his turn at least one more time. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the WBA approved a request placed on behalf of featherweight titlist Leigh Wood to proceed with an optional defense versus former two-time IBF titlist Josh Warrington. James Dickens reckons he could be in with a shot at an all-British showdown. The IBO featherweight champion has been out of the ring since winning the title back in October last year. Dickens, who is a former British champion at the weight and has also previously challenged for the IBF crown, outpointed Lerato Dlamini in his home city of Liverpool.
Josh Warrington is in the final stages of finalizing the opponent for his next fight. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the former two-time IBF featherweight titlist will headline a June 10 DAZN show from OVO Arena Wembley in London. The location is a departure from Warrington’s normal stomping grounds in his Leeds hometown but no less eager to top the bill in his quest to return to the title picture.
