Jose Zepeda: record, next fight and profile →
Big puncher Jose 'Chon' Zepeda of Mexico has announced the hiring of manager Cameron Dunkin and hopes that this career move will land him a position on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao's upcoming challenge of WBO welterweight world champion Jessie Vargas, which takes place on November 5 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera, Mexico City, Mexico - Top rated bantamweight contender Luis 'Panterita' Nery (19-0, 13 KOs) picked up a ten round unanimous decision over Martin “Pini” Casillas (15-7-1, 9 KOs). The scores were 100-88, 99-89, 98-90.
RICKY BURNS is on a collision course with Jose Zepeda as he bids to regain his old WBO lightweight world title - and could face him in in London or Glasgow before the summer's end.
In the televised opener, 25-year old former 115 lb. titlist and current Jr. featherweight battler Juan Carlos Sanchez (21-4-1, 9 KO), 122, of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, rebounded from a decision loss to Cesar Juarez with a unanimous decision in ten rounds over 23-year old Jhon Gemino (12-6-1, 5 KO), 122, Lipa City, Batangas, Philippines. The fight wasn’t a thriller but Gemino made a good case with energy and aggression. It wasn’t enough against the taller, longer, and more experienced Sanchez.
Jose 'Chon' Zepeda went face to face with the always dangerous Panamanian Ammeth 'Chloroform' Diaz. They will collide on Saturday night in Mexicali, Baja California. The event will be promoted by Zanfer Promotions.

The event will be the first function for Zanfer Promotions in 2016, with the television being handled by Azteca 7, House of Boxing.
The televised portion of the card opened in the lightweight division. 20-year old Carlos Diaz (18-0, 10 KO), 135 ½, of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico scored a highlight reel knockdown in round three and finished the fight within the round but the stoppage of 25-year old Marcos Cardenas (16-6-1, 12 KO), 135 ½, of Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico, was highly debatable. The referee was Juan Morales Lee.
Airing on beIN SPORTS en Español is the highly anticipated welterweight boxing bout between former world champion, Nicaraguan Jose “Jicara” Alfaro and contender Jose Zepeda. The Zanfer Promotions bout will air Saturday at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.
