Round up of all the boxing news in Europe.

Yarde, Silva Fight Photos Gallery - Wembley Arena, Wembley - Light heavyweight contender Anthony Yarde (24-3, 23 KOs) returned to the ring on Saturday night and blew away late replacement Jorge Silva in two rounds.

Jorge Silva lasted about as long against Anthony Yarde as anyone could’ve expected of a 40-year-old opponent who took this difficult fight on two days’ notice.

Leigh Wood is set to ‘Dance with the Devil’ in front of his hometown crowd. The reigning WBA featherweight titlist brimmed with confidence as he soaked in the cheers from the raucous crowd during Friday’s weigh-in at Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England. The same venue will host Saturday’s DAZN show, headlined by Wood’s scheduled twelve-round clash with visiting challenger Mauricio Lara.

At the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee, undefeated middleweight prospect Luis "Cuba" Arias had his homecoming with a TKO victory over durable Mexican journeyman Jorge Silva (21-11) in the main event.

Theater, Madison Square Garden, New York City - A battle of undefeated lightweights saw Puerto Rican sensation Felix Verdejo (20-0, 14KOs) box his way to a one-sided ten round unanimous decision over William Silva (23-1, 14KOs). The scores were 100-90, 100-90, 99-91. Verdejo was patient in the first two rounds, outboxing Silva. He stepped up the pace in third and started letting his hands go more often. As the fight played out, Verdejo continued to get more active and Silva's activity was dropping.

Frankie Gomez shut out Jorge Silva over the course of 10 rounds, winning in his first appearance in the ring in nearly 15 months. Gomez, a 23-year-old prospect, was supposed to have fought this past May in a prime spot on the HBO undercard to the Canelo Alvarez vs. James Kirkland broadcast, a show that also included the re-airing of Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao. But while an impressive average audience of more than 2.1 million people tuned in that night, none of them got to see Gomez take on Humberto Soto. That’s because Gomez, after having the weight limit pushed back from 141 pounds to 145, still came in at 147.5. The fight got called off.

In the opening bout of the Golden Boy Promotions card, Armando Pina stopped Zacharia in the second round. As the bout progressed, Pina (6-0, 6 KOs) landed more punches at will onto Kelley, who looked exhausted midway through the second round. Pina ended matters when he trapped Zacharia (4-11, 4 KOs) against the ropes, battering him with punches before the fight was stopped at 2:45.

Opening the telecast, Arturo Hernandez scored a six-round decision over Alberto Cupido in a battle of Cancun-based super featherweights. Hernandez (4-2-1, 2KOs) picks up his first win since last March, having not fought since suffering a knockout loss to unbeaten Joseph Aguirre last May. Cupido (8-12-2, 6KOs) is now winless in his last four starts.

According to promoter Pepe Gomez, former champion Vic "Raging Bull" Darchinyan will be part of a co-featured fight on Cancun Boxing's upcoming card on February 7 in Chetumal. In the main event, an war of punches is expected when Pablo Cesar Cano and Jorge "Pantera" Silva go to war at the Municipal Palace of Chetumal. Cano (27-4-1, 20 KOs) vs. Silva (19-6-2, 15 KO's) is a high stakes fight with heavy consequences for the loser.
