John Molina Jr. will once again be working with trainer Joe Goossen for his upcoming bout with former three-division titleholder and current super lightweight contender Adrien Broner on the undercard of the March 7 “Premier Boxing Champions” show on NBC. It was formally announced on Wednesday that John Molina will be matched up against Adrien Broner on March 7th on the much ballyhooed debut of 'Premiere Boxing Champions' on NBC from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. And in preparation for this fight, the heavy-handed Molina will once again be under the guidance of trainer Joe Goossen. Last April as the 32-year old from Covina, California went back-and-forth with Lucas Matthysse( losing via 11th round TKO, eventually) he had the services of Goossen. The veteran trainer did not work with Molina as he then dropped a decision to Humberto Soto back in September.
Details of Al Haymon’s newly launched boxing series on NBC have finally been revealed during an invite-only press conference held Wednesday morning at the network’s headquarters in New York City. The series – titled “Premiere Championship Boxing” – will kick off March 7 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining the card, unbeaten welterweight knockout artist Keith Thurman will face former three-division champion Robert Guerrero. In the co-feature, Adrien Broner – also a former titlist in three weight classes – will face John Molina Jr.
As BoxingScene.com first broke on Tuesday night, the two fights are set for the debut show of the new boxing series, which is being put together by powerful adviser/manager Al Haymon, for NBC/NBC Sports. The fights have now been officially announced by Haymon Boxing at a press conference earlier this morning, with executives from the NBC Sports Group, as they officially announced the series.
