Undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo is not paying attention to the recent statements from Australian star Tim Tszyu.
A few days ago, Tszyu confidently backed Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to take down Charlo in their upcoming showdown.
On Saturday night, Charlo will move up by two full weight divisions to challenge Canelo for the undisputed super middleweight crown at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Showtime Pay-Per-View will carry the event.
Tszyu is back in the ring on October 14 in Australia, where he defends the WBO junior middleweight title against Brian Mendoza.
Charlo believes Mendoza is going to score an upset knockout. Mendoza turned heads earlier this year when he secured a dramatic knockout of undefeated Sebastian Fundora.
“He can’t predict this fight. His prediction don’t matter. Tell him to go tell it to his fans. Who cares? I’m going to fight and make quadruple the money he ever will probably see his whole career. Tim Ta-Zoo hasn’t done sh!t in boxing," Charlo told Ben Damon of Main Event.
“Mendoza is knocking Tim Ta-Zoo out. Now what yah gonna say? Holler at me. Hey Australia, I love you all. I’ll be coming over there to eat some kangaroo meat with you, hang out in Sydney and party with you all.”
Tszyu has been the longtime mandatory challenger to Charlo's WBO world title. A few months ago, the sanctioning body issued a ruling which directs the WBO title to be stripped from Charlo once he steps in the ring with Canelo this weekend. Additionally, Tszyu - who holds the WBO's interim-title - will automatically be elevated to the status of full champion.
Tszyu is currently training in Las Vegas and he's planning to sit ringside for Canelo vs. Charlo.
