LAS VEGAS – First and foremost, Daniel Jacobs obviously wants to win Saturday night.

The IBF middleweight champion also hopes he and Canelo Alvarez can produce a fantastic fight for the ages. The last thing the 32-year-old Jacobs wants is for their 160-pound title unification fight to bore boxing fans expecting something memorable.

“It’s about the fight for me,” Jacobs told a group of reporters prior to a press conference Wednesday at MGM Grand. “You know, I want this fight to be one of those fights where people can talk about for years to come. I just [don’t] wanna beat Canelo Alvarez [in] a boring fight. I want this to be – I mean, I don’t want it to go longer than it have to, if I can get the knockout, obviously. I want this to be a really, really entertaining fight for however long it lasts.”

A reporter then asked Jacobs if he’s concerned that attempting to make this scheduled 12-round fight as entertaining as possible could work to his detriment against a dangerous opponent like Alvarez.

“It’s not gonna change my game plan,” Jacobs said. “You know, me wanting it to be an exciting fight is not gonna change how I perform. That’s just my hopes of it. And I know that Canelo brings a lot to the table. But we don’t know the Canelo Alvarez that’s gonna show up come Saturday night. So, for me, I have my game plan set forth and we’re just gonna try and execute it the best way we know how. But I’m in hopes that it will turn out, because our styles complement each other. And if he was to bring it, you could best believe I’m gonna bring it.”

Mexico’s Alvarez (51-1-2, 35 KOs), the WBA/WBC middleweight champ, is listed as a 4-1 favorite over Brooklyn’s Jacobs (35-2, 29 KOs), who owns the IBF 160-pound crown. DAZN will stream the Alvarez-Jacobs bout as the main event of a card at T-Mobile Arena set to start at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT.
