Their fight is set for November 8th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. HBO will televised. Various venues and dates were discussed between executives for Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions and Kathy Duva’s Main Events. Ultimately, though, the Bernard Hopkins-Sergey Kovalev light heavyweight championship unification fight will occur when and where they originally planned. Duva, Main Events’ chief executive officer, confirmed Friday that Hopkins-Kovalev has officially been scheduled for Nov. 8 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Nov. 1, Nov. 15 and Dec. 6 were other dates considered. Barclays Center in Brooklyn and more recently Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center were explored as potential options.

A source with knowledge of the details has advised BoxingScene.com that Barclays Center in Brooklyn is no longer in the running as a possible venue to host the light heavyweight unification between Bernard Hopkins and Sergey Kovalev. While the venue initially expressed interest in securing the fight, the executives at the location have apparently removed Barclays from contention because of a "Live Nation concert" being staged at the venue on November 1.

SHO's Espinoza on Hopkins: No Childish Ban Like HBO Did

Stephen Espinoza, head of Showtime Sports, is not taking Bernard Hopkins' decision personally. Espinoza's network was trying to finalize a light heavyweight unification between Hopkins and Adonis Stevenson for a date in October or November - but then Hopkins unexpectedly walked across the street to rival network HBO and finalized a unification against Sergey Kovalev for November.
