WBA/IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32KOs), 49-years-young, is knee deep in training for his unification with WBO kingpin Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23KOs). Their fight is set for November 8th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. HBO will televised.
Three titles at stake, and either the historic career of Hopkins will come to a close and the legend of Kovalev will grow - or Hopkins will once again shock the critics by defeating another fighter who is viewed as the next big thing.
"This is bar none the biggest fight of the year. This is the biggest fight of the year by no doubts. This fight could have easily been on pay-per-view, but we're giving it to the fans who can't afford it, and are going to watch it, and are going to enjoy it, because it will have historic meaning for me to add another chapter to a long, long historic career," Hopkins told BoxingScene.com.
Hopkins, who has one of the best chins in boxing, has never been stopped. Kovalev has knocked out his last nine opponents in seven rounds or less. The experts are split on the winner and a lot of drama is expected on fight night.
