Hearn: Ward Has No Choice, Must Face Froch in UK

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom says Andre Ward, recognized as the top fighter at super middleweight, has must to come to the UK to fight Carl Froch in a rematch. Ward won a twelve round decision over Froch when they fought in December of 2011 in Atlantic City. Ward was part of HBO's broadcast team on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, and saw Froch get revenge over Mikkel Kessler with a twelve round unanimous decision. In the opinion of Hearn, Ward's back is against the wall and he doesn't have much of a choice in terms of where the rematch would take place.

"Andre has absolutely no options. Tell me another fight out there for him at super middleweight," Hearn told Sky Sports. "That's why he was at the 02 - he wants the fight with Froch. That's a massive fight. We're sitting here with two belts and Carl has just catapulted himself to huge new levels in terms of sporting prestige in Great Britain, so we'll relax and take our time. If Andre wants the fight, then it will have to be where we want it."

Froch's negotiating leverage was at its peak moments after his victory over Kessler was announced on Saturday. This leverage wanes with each day that passes. His management and Ward's should know this. The more time that it takes for this…
Ward isn't the crowd nor the fan favurite, nor does he generate much revenue. I don't care that he beat Froch, that's not how boxing works. Do you think Mosley got more than Delahoya because he beat him the first…
I think they should stop criticising him. How are they ever going to sell a rematch if they convince the public the fight is going to be boring.
Froch doesn't really wanna fight Ward again. Ward exposes Froch…
It doesn't matter that he's beaten all those guys, ward beat him!! They can demand it be in the uk, that's fair IMO. Idk about the taking less money part though. I don't think ward deserves less money then…
Froch could obviously fight Kessler again in a trilogy and wait for Ward to heal. Froch will deserve more money though if Ward let's this happen, and doesn't strike right now though 2 wins over Kessler, Abraham, Bute, Dirrell and…
