Eddie Hearn, promoter for WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade, would embrace the opportunity to finalize a unification agreement with WBC, WBA champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
Canelo needs a dance partner for the fall, and at the moment there is no clear option for him to fight.
He was scheduled to fight again on September 14, but made a decision to push back the date after no top-level opponent had been secured.
Canelo has no intention of facing Gennady Golovkin, and he was unable to finalize a deal with WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev.
The IBF ordered him to face Sergiy Derevyanchenko - and those talks fell apart, which forced the sanctioning body to strip Canelo of his title.
Now Andrade is one of the few remaining options and likely the biggest available option for the Mexican superstar.
"Whether Canelo and Oscar [De La Hoya] want to fight Demetrius Andrade, we'll find out soon, but in terms of a credible opponent, he has to be No 1 right now," Hearn told Sky Sports.
"He's another world champion, it's another unification fight. Canelo has showed time and time again that he's willing to take on the best and champion after champion. His last fight was a unification fight against Danny Jacobs and this would be as well. Nothing concrete to tell you other than from the Demetrius side, he would be ready to go.
"When you look now at the options, you have to think Demetrius is probably biggest fight out there, in terms of the fights that are available, or the fights that have been passed up on, so again, in that situation it's really down to Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy to decide who they want to fight. If they pick Demetrius Andrade, he would be ready to go."
At the moment it's hard to say what will happen, as there appears to be an internal rift between Canelo and Golden Boy.
Canelo blamed Golden Boy matchmaker Robert Diaz for losing the IBF title. And that reaction would see De La Hoya and Golden Boy President Eric Gomez come to Diaz's defense.
