Eddie Hearn, promoter for IBF middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs, is going to make a big push to get him in the ring with WBC, WBA middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Earlier this month, Canelo overpowered England's Rocky Fielding with a dominant display on his New York City debut. He had little trouble in moving up to super middleweight and needing only three rounds to defeat Fielding, who held a second tier version of the WBA's super-middleweight title.

Canelo extended his record to 51-1-2 with 35 knockouts in his first appearance since signing a record-breaking 11-fight, $365 million contract with sports streaming service DAZN.

Jacobs was ringside for the Fielding fight.

After it was over, he and Hearn entered the ring to exchange pleasantries with Canelo.

DAZN wants Canelo to take part in a major fight on May 4th in Las Vegas, when the Mexican superstar is scheduled to make his 2019 return.

Jacobs and Gennady Golovkin are the biggest fight options for the Cinco De Mayo date.

"We got Danny in the ring and we just stood back. We were waiting for an interview and didn't do anything. And Canelo saw Danny and walked cross the ring, shook his hand. And I just said to him 'guys, you two are amazing fighters, the unification - this is the fight.' And they both sort of said 'yeah.' This is the fight, this is the next fight," Hearn told BoxingScene.com.

"I believe Canelo wants it, I know DAZN wants it. When you look at the polls, there are only two fights - Gennady Golovkin and Danny Jacobs. And ultimately if he can box both of those guys within the year, you have to give Canelo massive credit because that's a tough year. But I believe he got an easier fight with Rocky Fielding, so he should be ready to go into a tough fight on Cinco De Mayo."
