WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney is not bothered by the recent statements which came from Gervonta 'Tank' Davis, who holds the WBA 'regular' title at 135-pounds.
Earlier this month, both Haney and Davis made defenses of their respective titles.
Haney won a tough twelve round unanimous decision over former champion Joseph Diaz, and then the following day Davis overcame a hand injury to win a harder than expected twelve round unanimous decision over Isaac Cruz.
When discussing potential opponents for the future, Davis labeled Haney as "easy work."
In past interviews, Haney openly tabbed Davis as his biggest threat at the weight and believes the two of them will one day meet in a mega-fight.
"At the end of the day, he can say what he wants to say. But if we was easy work, then he would have fought us just saying when he said it was easy for him to fight Issac Cruz. That fight was easy to be made. These fights will be easy to be made if the rest of the division was easy work," Haney told The DAZN Boxing Show.
While some observers were critical of Davis' performance against Cruz, Haney believes the critics are going overboard.
"I thought he did what he had to do to get the job done," Haney said. "It wasn’t his best performance. The world can say he broke his hand in the fight, but he went in there and got the job done.
"It wasn’t my job to go out there and outdo this person and outdo that person because, at the end of the day, styles make fights. I’m not comparing myself to nobody. I can’t look at somebody’s success or somebody and feel like, ‘Oh, I can beat him, or now you see, I’m a better fighter because he struggled with him’."
