Shakur Stevenson has told Devin Haney to “be careful” over what he wishes for.

Haney this week wrote on social media: “Me & Shakur is the biggest fight in boxing! I want him & Keyshawn [Davis]. Little bro then big bro!”

Haney, 27, is 33-0 (15 KOs) with a No Contest, after Ryan Garcia was found to be taking performance enhancing drugs around their April 2024 fight.

He won the WBO welterweight title with an impressive victory over Brian Norman last November, rejuvenating his reputation in the process.

Stevenson, 28, who claimed a title in a fourth weight class (junior welter) with a commanding win over Teofimo Lopez on Saturday in New York, quoted Haney’s message on X and added: “Be careful what you wish for things might just happen.”

Newark’s gifted Stevenson is 25-0 (11 KOs). He has also spoken of a desire to face Conor Benn, who is planning to return to welterweight after a two-fight excursion to middleweight where he split two bouts with Chris Eubank Jnr.

Haney, however, would be a far more fitting rival.
