Paul Gallen survived an opening round knockdown to score a 2nd round stoppage of Herman Ene-Purcell in their brief heavyweight slugfest.

Garth Wood insists he's not a dirty fighter, though opponent Daniel Geale has questioned some of his tactics in the lead-up to Wednesday's fight. Wood will start a huge underdog against former WBA and IBF world champion Geale at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion. Geale didn't label Wood a dirty fighter at Monday's media conference, but said the bout could get rough and tough and suggested his opponent wasn't averse to ignoring the rule book.

Grange Old School Boxing in association with DUCO events New Zealand invites you to return to an old school fight card, at an old school venue when 3 time world champion Daniel Geale returns to the ring to do battle with WBA #13 Garth Wood for the I.B.F. Middleweight Pan Pacific title, headlining a 7 fight card of eagerly anticipated bouts. Still highly rated on the world scene Geale needs to be impressive against Wood in order to maintain his world ranking and status, however following a verbal exchange at the press announcement “The Real Deal” is on notice that Garth believes he has the motivation, the game plan and the punch to put Geale to sleep and capture the attention of our boxing public once again.

Daniel Geale says the desire for more world title glory still burns brightly after announcing his first fight since losing the IBF middleweight title to Darren Barker last August. Geale officially announced on Friday he will fight former sparring partner Garth Wood at Sydney's Hordern Pavillion on February 19. The fight is the former two-time world champion's first since his split points loss to England's Barker.

Former middleweight titlist Daniel Geale is set to return to the ring February 19, when he will face countryman Garth Wood in Sydney, Australia. The fight will mark the first ring appearance for Geale (29-2, 15KO) since losing his title to Darren Barker in their 12-round thriller last August in the United States.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the middleweight fight between Martin Murray and Garth Wood, set for December 11th in Sydney, has been canceled due to the rescheduled date between Shane Mosley and Anthony Mundine, now taking place on November 27th at the All Phones Arena in Homebush, Australia. Mosley-Mundine was scheduled to take place a few weeks ago and then canceled at the last minute when Mosley withdrew due to a financial dispute with promoter Vlad Wharton, who failed to pay the former champion the remainder of his purse, $700,000.

The World Boxing Association has ruled that the WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24KOs) will have to face the interim-champion Martin Murray (25-1-1, 11KOs) if both fighters are victorious in their upcoming fights. Golovkin will defend his WBA/IBO titles against Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18KOs) on November 2nd at The Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden, while Murray will travel to Australia to face Garth Wood (12-3-1, 8KOs) on December 11th at the Entertainment Centre in Sydney.

Martin Murray is either a glutton for punishment, or confident that the third time will be a charm. The top-rated middleweight contender once again hits the road for his next fight, a showdown with Garth Wood on December 11 in Sydney, Australia. "[M]y next fight is confirmed for December 11th in Sydney against Garth Wood," Murray announced overnight on his Twitter feed. "He's a tough opponent who'll be up for it so I'll be on my game."

If WBA interim-middleweight champion Martin Murray (25-1, 11KOs) is capable of obtaining a visa to enter Australia, he will defend his title against Garth Wood on NOvember 30th in Sydney. Murray has been out of the ring since losing a close twelve round decision to WBC champion Sergio Martinez on April 27 in Argentina. Wood (12-3-1, 8KOs) had a huge upset in 2010 when he stopped Anthony Mundine in five rounds. But then Wood lost to Mundine in their rematch and was outboxed a year later by Sam Soliman. Wood won his last two, including a win that brought him the WBA Pan African title in May.

Previously unbeaten lightweight Bashir Sadiq suffered a shocking 1st round knockout loss at the hands of local underdog Dominic Shchukin (1-1-1, 1KO). A straight right hand put the Afghani prospect down barely a minute into the bout. Sadiq (3-1, 1KO) desperately tried to beat the count, but was still wobbly even as he attempted to protest the referee's stoppage, which came at 1:23 of round one.
