Victorian veteran Sam Soliman displayed the savvy accumulated through a 15-year professional boxing to outpoint Garth Wood on Sunday.

Former Contender USA star Sam Soliman (40-11, 17 KO’s) is looking to extend his unbeaten run to six bouts when he faces Australian winner Garth Wood on February 19th at the Olympic Park Sports Centre in Homebush, New South Wales.

An interesting crossroads battle has been booked for February 19 in Sydney. Veteran middleweight Sam Soliman (40-11, 17KOs) will face Garth Wood (10-2-1, 6KOs). The two fighters have had rivalries with the same man, Anthony Mundine. Soliman lost three times to Mundine, while Garth scored a shocking knockout over Mundine in the fifth round of their December 2010 clash, but then dropped a decision in their rematch.

Middleweight, Garth Wood has been forced to pull out of his August 31 bout with Johannes Mwetupunga on the Daniel Geale vs Eromosele Albert undercard in Tasmania. The pair was supposed to be fighting for the IBF Asia-Pacific Title as well as for the Australian title but after Garth suffered a cut during the week in sparring he was forced to pull out.

At the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Queensland, Australia, former champion Anthony Mundine (41-4, 24KOs) staged a late rally in the final two rounds to secure a unanimous ten round decision win over Garth Wood (10-2-1, 6KOs). The judges saw it 96-92, 96-92 and 95-93. Wood went down twice in the final two rounds and lost a point for fouls, which provided a huge shift in points for Mundine. Last December at Acer Arena, Wood scored a shocking knockout over Mundine in five rounds.

Tensions ran high as middleweight Anthony Mundine and his conqueror Garth Woods were restrained from making an early start to Wednesday night's boxing rematch. Riled after being called a dirty fighter by Mundine during Tuesday's final media conference, Wood gave into temptation when they stood eye to eye posing for photos at the weigh in and appeared to headbutt the chatty ex-NRL player.

Former champion and hall of famer, Jeff Fenech, is backing middleweight contender Garth Wood to once again defeat three time world champion Anthony Mundine in their rematch scheduled for next month in Bisbane. Last December, Wood shocked the entire venue in Sydney when he stopped Mundine in the fifth round. Fenech is training Wood for the rematch and helped prepare him in the first meeting.
