How long should a LAPTOP last you?

I find that both laptops and desktops (windows) will get about four years of use before they get quirky amd too slow to tolerate. I’m not an IT guy, so I don’t build and repair my own.

I say this because my laptop is starting to break on me, it’s slow AF, and now it’s lost it’s brightness, I can barely make out what’s on the screen and the brightness button isn’t working so it’s screwed me.

Before you think it's ready for the trash heap, update your drivers and get rid of the viruses those pawn sites gave you

10 years wouldn't be a reach. If used reasonably (giving it a rest when not in use, getting a good anti virus, not using it as a dinner tray....).
