Not to mention, a group that seems way better at avoiding bombs then even Al-Qaeda. They bombed an empty training facility and field because ISIL knew that France would make a kickback.

Exactly, that's why you have to instill the fear that quite possibly because of their attacks it may cause their ideology to be wiped from the face of the earth. Like Nazi Germany. If Russia takes over them, you can be d*mn sure Putin will hold control with an iron fist. Not like we were able to do with Iraq. It will look like the Soviet occupation of East Germany. Then again if the soviet union failed with Afghanistan, then they are probably going to have to take a much different approach. My opinion is I don't give a **** about their way of life and culture. Their lack of civility and ethics within their society has caused this so...well ..may god have mercy on them.

ISIS is a result of a particular set of circumstances, not the cause. Destroy them and another version will take its place.
You have to conquer them. We can't just hurt them and let them reorganise into another faction like always, we have to defeat them. They have not been close to defeated. These people operate on their sworn enemies weakness and passivity. They have too much freedom to pursue these sinister endeavors. That's why we have to take the soil they operate on. Its time to get realistic about this realizing they aren't going anywhere and intrinsically will wage war until death.

You cannot make the comparison of Nazism to Islam. One is a religion of 1.5 billion people, the other came from a political view of a handful of men in Germany. Sure Nazism did enough harm, but it was stamped out after the war and if you are a Nazi in the modern world, you are shunned.

A religion is different in that you have moderates, and hardcore Islamists within the same religion. Each claiming it has the right version of this religion. So how do you fight an idea?

You don't fight it with bombs, but with other, better ideas. The only thing that will stop groups like ISIS, is that the Muslim world joins the 21st century and combats these radical ideas from birth, and we just run out of people who think this way.

It would be fairly easy to beat them on the battlefield. 100,000 troops on the ground should be enough. The real question is: Then what? As long as there's no longterm plan supported by the regional powers, there's no peace.

Yea that's exactly what I mean. But the Arab world is not willing to do this. It is why we had, like many other nations, such trouble combating terrorist groups in Iraq and Afghanistan. The locals and citizens won't help us push out the insurgency and give little to know information, and in most cases false information that puts our guys in extreme danger. These people are heavily associated with the insurgency, with family ties and relatives that go back generations upon generations. If you've ever watched Restrepo or Korengal on Netflix, its an awesome documentary about the futile military initiative we were trying to imploy

Yea it's a touchy subject but basically it comes down to whether it would be better if these radicals had the wealth in oil reserves funding their offensive or NATO allied nations, or Russia, Iran and China...

GREAT documentary on the front lines of Korengal Valley and what our guys go through in the hot zones. Really highlights how hard it is to fight these people and how savage they really are.
