Iirc Trump was willing to make a deal on the dreamers as long as there was a deal for the wall, and it was the democrats who turned it down. Why?
In addition Trump and many Republicans have said there will be no talks about path to citizenships for any illegals living in the country as long as there is no wall, so why not compromise? Why are the democrats so unwilling to move on this issue?
This isn’t trolling either Bernie it’s a series question.
Democrats have offered to fund the wall in return for a DACA solution TWICE but Trump blew up the deal on both occasions

Anyway, this isn’t about a wall
It’s a diversion

Republicans get the security they believe is necessary while liberals get the path to citizenship for illegals and dreamers. It’s not perfect but it’s a compromise and as close to a win win as you could get.

As far as a pathway to citizenship that's an issue that was solved numerous times before there was ever a discussion of the wall. The U.S. Senate passed immigration reform numerous times and sent it over to the House of Representatives. Boehner refused to bring the bill to the floor even though it had enough votes to pass. Boehner wouldn't bring the bill to the floor because even though it would have passed, it wouldn't have passed with the majority of Republicans. His rule was if he can't get the majority of Republicans to vote on a bill he won't bring it to the floor for a vote. That's ridiculous considering congress is supposed to work for the people, not for a party.
And that's the main issue. Our Congress isn't working the way it was designed to work. Congress is a separate but equal body of govt. The constitution was written specifically so that no one man could have this much power to shut down the government. That's tyranny, we don't live in a dictatorship.
The House just passed a bill that would reopen the government. It's the same bill that was sent over to them by the Senate 3 weeks ago. The bill passed the Senate with 90 votes. A veto proof bill. Now McConnell won't bring the bill to the floor for a vote. A bill that he voted for and the Senate passed only 3 weeks ago.
The problem is our congress isn't performing their constitutional duties.

1st and foremost I’m all for border security and keeping America secure.
You gotta keep this campaign promise of a southern border wall in context.
It was a campaign slogan and tool to incite a frenzy amongst a very bigoted percentage of Trump’s supporters.
And to be honest it was also bought by a percentage of Americans who actually do have concerns about this country’s security.
Politically speaking it was brilliant.
He could gather the support of two factions with the mention of a wall and or border security.
Do you actually believe a wall is going to give this country the security it deserves ?
Come on now.
Will the endless cost to the American taxpayer make Americans more secure ?
Mexico in any form should not have to pay for a campaign slogan.
So What about México paying for the wall ???
Why does this country (America) as a whole need to decipher the ever changing words of this President ?
Most of us speak English
We all have questions but to answer your question ?
The wall doesn’t do what it promises.
It’s not cost effective.
Mexico is not paying for it nor should it.
So I’m not for negotiating a deal for daca in exchange.
As far as daca at this point ?
America has to show its people and the world it’s still capable and has the ability to do what’s right.Last edited by BERNIE'S CORNER; 01-12-2019, 02:13 PM.

A large portion of Americans who voted for him understood his position on this and they voted yes. So a large portion of Americans do want that wall.
I agree congress isn’t working like it’s suppose to so let’s ask that they do. Get the deal done. Let the republicans have the wall, let the dreamers have a pathway to citizenship.

Personally, I don’t believe the wall would curve down illegal immigration. I think coming down on the businesses that knowingly hire and house illegals would be more effective. That’s just my opinion.
But my question is if we both agree this wall won’t make a difference, why not let the republicans have it?
Are you worried about the money? Ok, when you negotiate the pathway to citizenship for those illegals immigrants, make them pay a fine that adds to the budget for the wall.
You have 11million illegals according to some numbers (give or take a few million) charge them all 2k or 3k as part of the process they have to go to be citizens. That number is in the billions.
How is that not a win win? Is it really about helping the illegals and the dreamers or is it just about not negotiating with Trump?

Rep. Rashida Tlaib's profanity about impeaching President Trump received five times more coverage on cable news than Rep. Steve King's questioning of why white supremacy is considered offensive.https://t.co/uh9ysLRbCm
