what I dont comprehend at times is that I hear all this bad stuff about Detroit, but it has major teams such as the Pistons, the Tigers, and the Lions.
Well the Pistons haven't played in Detroit in quite some time. The suburbs of Detroit are very upscale and it actually hurt the city. The city of Detroit has always had a hate relationship with its suburbs and anyone that's lived here has seen what the uppers in that city have said about the suburbs of Detroit and what the white folk of the suburbs have said about Detroit. Its ruined the city but they brought a lot of it upon themselves blaming the rich suburbs for not caring about the city. It's a bad situation and it started way back in the 60s.

The city supports major teams because Michigan is still a very populated state and is one of the most passionate sports state/city you could ever find. There has never and will never be talks of any Detroit ever relocating because sports are such a big deal here. But to give you an idea of how wealthy some of the suburbs are here, up until the recession Oakland County, one of the counties that borders Detroit was the second richest county in America. Detroit has arguably some of the best suburbs in the country but it's being ruined because bad people are being able to purchase these homes and are ruining them.

In this market, especially for Vegas(being one of the top cities of foreclosures) that isn't that bad. Try having a 250,000 dollar house in the metro detroit area and selling it for 45,000 dollars. Not joking, it happens all the time here.

I've driven through Detroit about 8 years ago and let me tell you they could have filmed a post-apocalyptic movie there without ever making any changes to the environment. That ***** was depressing. Of course, some parts of the Bronx and the other boroughs aren't pretty either but they were no where near as depressing as Detroit.
There is plenty of bad areas in Detroit but it has some very nice areas. Two very nice universities are down there, downtown area, and some other parts like the riverfront, casinos and corktown areas are nice. Detroits a big city, it will never be perfect but the Detroit now is leaps and bounds nicer than it was 8 years ago and actually is a very fun city to be in.
