Absolutely. Iverson is much more athletic than a Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney runs an average of 10 km per game, much of the running at a high tempo and some of it at sprint speeds, he does this with one break at half time. So what do you mean by "athlete"? He looks "ripped"?

Wayne Rooney stops and walks for at least 30 minutes during a 90 minute match.

Athletic ability to me is body control, speed, coordination and power.
Thus Rooney has an abundance of athletic ability, and is also a good boxer according to Hatton.

Any top level athlete in any sport requiring athletic ability has an abundance of athletic ability.
Which is why it's stupid to suggest a member of one sport is more or less athletically gifted to the extent that he could succeed in other sports with more succees than any other top level athlete.

Other strikers might, not Rooney or Tevez.

        Maybe Berbatov.

Did anyone see the German athletics mascot's epic fail.

He was running with an athlete on his back and ran straight into a vehicle.

If it takes 90 minutes to average 10km of movement, you are not very athletic.

Chances are he's doing alot of hanging around/walking.

Please. I watch soccer mate. You're acting as if Rooney runs non stop for 90 mins, however, in baskeball you can not stand still for more than one second while the action is on. Also you have to sprint non stop.

Basketball is a watered down version of soccer.

Because in the majority of countries in the world people are to worried about surviving than spending their entire life playing basketball. USA is one of the most populated and most developed countries in the world.

Here's a country with 180 million ppl: Pakistan. You think their children have the time, or even a hoop to go play ball? No their fckin selling gum at age 8.

Anyways, the average WAGE for an NBA player is $5.356 million that includes the bench warmers . The average wage for a Premier league player is £700 000 annually. You can talk about how much Ronaldo will make 6 years from now all you want.

Look at the size of the court.
