Police believe DaMarcus Beasley's car was set on fire deliberately. The American international's BMW was found in flames on the street in Glasgow, according to the Scotsman.

The diminutive winger has struggled for playing time at Rangers once again this year. However, Beasley has chipped in two goals and four assists in his five Scottish Premier League appearances.

Last summer it appeared the former Chicago Fire star would leave Scotland, with Hamburg in Germany linked, but Beasley remained with the reigning league champions. Even since recovering from injury, both Beasley and American teammate Maurice Edu have struggled for game minutes.

Late last year, Edu revealed that he suffered racist abuse from his own fans.

No word yet on any possible motives for Beasley's car torching.

Sky News sources understand John Terry has been stripped of the England captaincy following allegations over his private life.

Terry's future as skipper of his country has been the subject of intense speculation ever since allegations emerged that he had an affair with England team-mate Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend.

The Chelsea star met with England coach Fabio Capello at Wembley on Friday afternoon to discuss his future as captain in the wake of the allegations.

There have been calls for Terry to lose the captaincy from sections of the media as it has been claimed more revelations are set to be exposed.

The Football Association made it clear Capello alone will decide Terry's fate and it appears the Italian has decided to take the armband off the 29-year-old, although there is no official confirmation as yet.

Capello was aware the matter needed to be dealt with prior to his departure for Warsaw on Saturday ahead of Sunday's Euro 2012 draw and reports suggest the meeting only lasted 12 minutes as Capello delivered the bad news to Terry

Terry has received support from Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti with the Italian claiming it was business as usual for the club captain in training ahead of Sunday's clash with Arsenal.

If news of Terry losing the captaincy is confirmed it throws England's plans for the World Cup into disarray with Capello now forced to look for a new captain for this summer's tournament in South Africa.

The likes of Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney have all been mentioned as possible replacements to Terry as captain as Capello considers his options over who should succeed Terry."

Stripping Terry of the armband is a joke. He was chosen because of his leadership qualities not his sexual prowess but if we do take that into consideration he certainly should not be punished - if anything he should be rewarded.
