You must not be very heavy then.
The last time I ran more than 4 days in a single week, my back hurt so bad I had a hard time sitting. If my back were seriously injured I doubt I'd be able to make a mile.
Goes to show you that the human body does not increase in strength proportional to size and that smaller guys have a much higher strength to size ratio.
Also backs up the hypothesis that you shouldn't just throw more cardio at a big guy to make him a little guy.

Yeah, I'm a bit overweight, hence the nickname.
I also wear a weight vest occasionally when I shadowbox and hit the bags. The weight vest can really exacerbate the problem.
I just think if you're big, everything's harder already, so you don't necessarily need to do more than everyone else, you just need to be smarter & more consistant.

if the human body doesnt increase in strength proportion to size...why would someone stay at 315 lbs?

I have a buddy from high school.
The guy would eat less than 2000 calories daily (usually 1600 or less) and he would spend hours a day walking- this was in Japan.
I swear he never dipped below 30% bodyfat.
I used to work out with another guy in Baltimore, kind of a genetic freak. It was almost impossible to gas this guy. The guy only ate 4 things: spaghetti, cheese pizza, general tso's chicken, and cheese burgers. I ate less than this guy and went through many of the same workouts (usually 15 hours a week), but while I have a hard time getting anywhere near 15% bodyfat (and abs), I doubt this guy's ever gone above 11%.
I've seen the Calories In - Calories Out equation act very strangely in practise. Maybe I'm just looking on too short a timeline, but I think people do have different caloric tolerances. Some people have very efficient systems (storing a lot of fat with minimal food intake), others have inefficient systems (don't work out, eat crud, and stay skinny).
And just to reiterate my believe in weight not proportionally equaling strength, i still maintain that the 2 hardest hitters that I've ever been punched by fought in the low 150s; even having sparred guys upwards of 260.

When I was boxing, I used to run 3 miles Mon-Thurs while at the gym, Fridays were off days(or a rowing machine at the school gym), and on Sat and Sun. I would swim in my university's pool.
