I have been in this game since 1985! I found out about the reyes equipment thru a guy in Cali who deals with authentic Reyes equipment. As far as Everlast, I have been to the Bronx factory many times, and the equipment was made there, on site. Now the headgear and gloves say MADE IN CHINA!!! Save money. The factory was shut down, everyone fired (or layed off as corporations say!) and the company moved to Kansas to produce equipment and merged with Title.

damn, that's good info.
www.grantboxing.com is finally working. they made some changes to the site.
i think the gloves are a little bit cheaper.
but, there's no more options for custom colors. just red/black for pro gloves, and just black for power bag gloves.
the same exact Grant gloves are also at www.ringside.com. same colors and price, but i wonder if the gloves from ringside are authentic Grant.

i just noticed, whenever someone talks about Bag gloves, no one ever mentions the everlast professional heavy bag gloves (10oz., 12oz, $79)
is it because they are the same price as the everlast professional training gloves, and people prefer to get the training glove instead?
i'm deciding on some top of the line 12 oz. bag gloves.
so far my choices are:
grant power bag gloves
everlast professional heavy bag gloves
ringside super bag gloves (cheap, heard they are good, but how good compared to the more expensive bag gloves?)

Grant pro 10 oz gloves are best for all bag and mitt work. A 2nd choice would be Ringside pro 12 or 10 oz. gloves. Bag gloves are too stiff. Pro gloves are the best fitting. As far as ordering from Reyes Industria, no idea... I think you would have to go to Mexico City to buy direct or be a big time promoter, trainer and have connections.

i see.
about using pro gloves for heavybag work....
is there a reason why pros need their hands wrapped pro-style for their bouts?
i thought it was for added protection since they are using very small pro fight gloves.
so it's safe to use standard mexican style 180inch handwraps and pro fight gloves on the heavybag?
oh yeah, i almost forgot. pro gloves are only available in lace-up. i prefer velcro for faster on/off.Last edited by deh707; 10-17-2006, 10:16 PM.

Water heavybags, no comment. I use the Everlast 50lb. leather bag in my gym. My boxers all love it! It is a softer bag and I have used that brand since 2002. You don't need to wrap like a pro with gauze and tape etc. The mexican 180 are perfect for any glove. As far as lace gloves, Ringside, Title and Amber all sell a glove assist that you attach to the laces for instant velcro. I use it on all my lace gloves.. www.ringside.com/DETAIL.ASPX?ID=24716 Amateur gloves are ok for bag work, I prefer pro.

Pro glove implies a fight glove which is usually a blend of foam and horsehair, unless I'm mistaken and they've completely done away with the horsehair. My point is that I thought fight gloves weren't made to stand up to daily training?
I have the Grant super bag gloves and after you break them in, they're real nice.
