  • 100 Push Ups???

Is there any benefit of being able to do 100 push ups? Ive been trying to get there lately and getting up to about 90 give or take 1 or 2.

How is it going to help me being able to do 100 upwards...

Well I once read in a magazine that pushups can cause stress on your shoulders or elbows (one of them, can't completely remember), and it isn't a good thing.

Well, you can post vids on youtube, and show off on boards. That's about it.

It helps the endurance part of your strength. I do 100 push-ups using the push-up handles so I can go even lower and get a wider range of motion. I've noticed at work I can lift heavy boxes for a longer period of time without feeling fatigue and when I am doing my shadowboxing I can hold my arms up longer when throwing punches with 3 pound dumbbells.

You can say you can do 100 pushups, which is probably a lot more than the slob you're talking to. Pushups are fun, I used to be able to do 120 in each set in high school.

It is fun to do them and I enjoy the pump you get afterwards and they have the added benefit of burning a few extra calories.

Can you do them on your fingers and knuckles?

I was doing sets of around 40-50, really killing them a few times a day going for the burn each time, and my right shoulder started giving me trouble when I'd wake up in the morning. I now do sets of 25 a few times a day, just throw out a set every now and again as a "breather" at work or in the middle of my noon run. My shoulder is much better. I think it's definitely possible to inflame a rotator cuff with too many pushups. Your mileage may vary.
