How to practice parrying/blocking while shadow boxing with dumbbells?

I shadow box with 2lb dumbbells. How could I practice parrying and blocking with these, which require a open hand? The dumbbells prevent me from opening up.

Don't open your hand, simple as that. What weight are you at?........Rockin'

I don’t know about that one. Aren’t you afraid of fcking yourself up when you bring your hands back to a defensive position? Could you not just use weighted gloves?
The perfect tool to improve on all of the benefits of shadowboxing and running. Strengthen your punch, increase your hand speed, and enhance the muscular endurance of your shoulders, back, and arms.

Im at 154. If I don’t open my hand, would it still be possible to effectively practice my parry and blocks? I would think that this detail doesn’t matter. Open or closed, couldn’t you do either? Obviously during sparring I’ll open it, or close it depending on what my body does.

Egg weights? That's what Fury loaded his gloves with.

Just put your hand up beside your head to catch a hook, and to parry a jab........ Don't open your hand while shadow boxing with the weights. Just be sure to shadow box a few rounds with out them where you are opening your up your hands. Do it on the bags, etc. Either way you will break the momentum of the incoming blow if you get your hand there in time. You just cover more area with an open hand. If you don't roll with it though you lose the offensive power counter oppertunity..,...Rockin'
