Quick put-in from an ex-bantamweight bodybuilding background: The fruit diet is a good crash diet, no question. However, if you jump on it immediately from something else, it can have adverse side effects on your body. Diahrrea, nausea, constipation...effects vary (and thats only an if). The reason for this is that if you've been on a strict diet for so long, your body will reject a turnaround in habits. Fruits are great to eat and do revitalize naturally, but the absolute (and often unhealthy) way to cut weight in a hurry is carb elimination. If your set on the fruit/chicken/steak base of the diet, ease into it by replacing carbs with fruit in one or two meals at a time, and drink a big glass of natural orange juice once a day. Doing that should ease the transition.

I just got off a five day juice fast last week. Watch out for headaches the first few days. I lost 9 pounds but put on 4 as soon as I started eating solid foods again. I am trying to drops some pounds to get the ol abs back. I am only eating 500+ calories a day. My workouts are still as hard but not as easy. You will need more sleep though. I missed my 5 am run this morning because of it and slept till 7. Forgot to cut on the alarm.

I forgot to mention the diahrrea the first few days.

I recently put fruit into my diet as well. I eat strictly a fruit salad (1 peach, 1 banana, 1 cup g****s or kiwi) for lunch and get my chicken/fish for dinner and have 2 servings of crispix for breakfast and drink strictly water. I was wondering concerning the fruit diet, is it necessary to count carbs with fruit? I get confused sometimes with the whole good carb/bad carb and the high/low Glycemic index stuff because I know some fruits are higher in carbs than others

If you're counting calories in general, count fruits too since you're eating them as well.

And the whole GI index is too overused. Don't forget that carbs combined with different fatty acids and different amino acids change the way the carb reacts. So if you eat a "fast" digesting carb like a banana, it could slower the absorbtion if it's eaten with a protein or fat for example.

the lemon juice thing is a bad idea, u'll burn off all your lean muscle mass...if u want to clean all the **** out of your system, drugs, steroids, etc, i'd recommend a bottle of goji berry juice, that **** cleans u out

Doing a one week cleanse isn't really a cleanse. If you want to truely cleanse the body, you have to do it for at least a year...

1 weeks of cleansing isn't going to clean out decades of **** in your body.
