  • Lemon Juice / Fruit Fasting diet

I'm thinking about doing this in about a week. I was wondering to those who have done this, when do you feel comfortable training, without passing out? haha The first few days are probably out of the question, correct?

    thanks

both lemon juice and fruit contain alot of sugar, which is gonna be stored as fat. why are you thinking of doing this? just to cut weight? eat small meals containing protein throughout the day, the protein will aid in muscle recovery, and eat a small meal containing mostly carbs before your workouts for energy.

It is to cut weight, but also cleanse and revitalize my stomach, liver, & colon. I've been on a strict diet since April and have seen great results, but I heard this type of diet somewhat restores you in many ways...

Don't even think about doing it for weight loss. It'll come back as fast as you lose it.

For cleansing though, some of it is true, but it's VERY overrated. Old boxers ate steaks, chicken, and other cooked foods ALOT and they were healthy.

I wouldn't do a fast unless you were going into surgery or something like that.

Many people who fast and eat only fruits/veggies say cooked foods are filled with toxins and are evil

I almost became a believer but every Olympic athlete or other healthy person who eats cooked foods and doesn't fast/cleanse is in great health. It is very overrated by those fruit hippies.

Bull! you don't store fat just because somthing's "sugar." First of all there's a world of difference between refined sugar, and fruit. Second, you have to eat more calories than you burn to store fat. On a diet consisting of fruits only, that's almost impossible. Let's say you're a 20 year old male, 160 lbs, reasonably active during the day. You'd have to eat probably 3500 calories a day, give or take.
An apple has 60 calories per 100 grams. To cover your daily calorie usage, you have to eat 12 pounts of apples! Once you've done that, you have to eat considerably more than that to gain ANY weight. Not very ****in' likely.
          Strawberries - 46 calories per 100 grams
          Mangoes - 77 calories per 100 grams
          Peaches - 50 calories per 100 grams
          Plums - 75 calories per 100 grams
          Blueberries - 70 calories per 100 grams
          Bananas - 100 calories per 100 grams
          Oranges - 60 calories per 100 grams
          Apricots - 57 calories per 100 grams
          Pineapple - 55 calories per 100 grams
          Kiwis - 71 calories per 100 grams
          Pears - 64 calories per 100 grams

If you ate 400 grams of each of the 12 fruits listed above (apples included), you'd only take in 3140 calories. That's 10½ lbs of fruit!!

No matter how you eat, fruit will NEVER be the reason you gain fat. If you're getting fat, don't eliminate the fruit from your diet, eliminate something else.

It goes either way. If you ONLY eat coked foods, that's not healthy, and weight management will be harder.
You're right that you shouldn't eat only fruits, but there's nothing wrong with fasting once in a while.

A lot of cooked foods ARE filled with toxins, especially in the US. Hormones in milk and beef, and whatnot.

You can always pull out examples of people who are doing something in a less than optimal way, and say "look, it works for him!" Sure, some people die of cancer at 40 despite eating clean, abstaining from drugs and alcohol, and some people live to a hundred on a diet of McDonalds, ice cream and soda, smoking two packs a day, drinking 6 beers a day, and a bottle of whiskey on weekends. That's called anecdotal evidence, and it should be obvious to most (thinking) people that the guy who got old, did so IN SPITE of his lifestyle, not because of it.

Facts are that most high level athletes do take their diet extremely serious. The few who can eat junk and succeed are, like the once who can be world class without putting an effort into their training, the exception to the rule.

Try reading some nutriotional articles by John Berardi or Donnie Lowery. Google it, you'll find some, I'm sure.

Yeah, I worded it wrong I guess.

Eating cooked foods along with fruits is best, but eating cooked foods aren't as bad as the raw foodist make it out to me. I'm saying that they're making it seem like a big thing while you can be perfectly healthy without any fasts.

Fasts are good to do...but you won't **** out a 20 feet worm if you don't do it like many raw foodist make it out to be

                  Thanks Guys.

Chicken & Steak is now part of my diet, of coarse, in moderation with veggies, fruit, & wheat products. I guess I'm curious as to the effects of fasting, and I've never done it before so I think it will be beneficial. Plus its only for about a week or so, so I'm gonna give it a try.

but also to my orginial question, is training out of the question when I'm fasting? ...oviuslly I'll probably tell were my enegery levels are and work out accordingly. Just wondering if anyone has some first hand experience.

                  Thanks again.

It really depends on how long you will be fasting. for me I usually do 3-4 days and lose around 8-10 lbs. I can usually go hard on the bball court that first day and possibly a lackluster run on the second but after that it is really not worth my time. I would not do any training after the first day realistically. As fara as gaining the weight back you just have to know how to break your fast. you cannot break the fast with fattty foods. I drink pure juice for 3-4 days and for the next 3-4 only eat salad and vegies. that keeps you from tearing up your digestive system and helps the weight stay off. Fot me it serves as a way to jump start my system to trim off the ls I need.
