    Knee joint discomfort?

    Anybody ever experience this before?

Do a bit of running and work legs out twice a week.

Left knee is starting to fee a bit discomfort and slight pain when I run. Fine when I’m walking but feels like it could be triggered by any sudden movement.

I’ve worked through some knee problems that got worse when I ran. Basically, I quit running for a year and did other exercises. Running is hard on the knees. Other things that can help, lose weight, eat healthy, different shoes. Don’t land on your heel but more of a mid to fore foot strike. Jump rope is easier on the knees than running....just skipping and keeping the jumps low as possible. No double unders. Exercise bike or elliptical. Do exercises that don’t aggregate the knee but will strengthen the muscles around the knee. Good luck it can be a long recovery. Don’t mess around and make it worse

In my late 30's I had meniscus operations on both knees. After that I gave up any kind of distance type running and I've been good since then. I was lucky to have only small tears in my meniscus because the operation was simply to cut away the tear. I don't know if the technology has improved since then but I'm thinking it hasn't. If it is your meniscus hopefully it's only a small tear.

I think a lot of guys who are heel strikers don’t do well on hard surfaces.

I run on the beach pretty regularly, and it helps me in so many ways.

                  Thanks for insight.

I believe my weight has been hard on my knee joints while running. I’m currently overweight/obese for my frame so I’m working on losing some upper body weight by lifting 3x a week full body program and eating in a deficit with reduced carbs diet.

I stopped running my knees don’t ache anymore. I’m not gonna try any jogging until I’m down a good 15 lbs. that way I don’t aggravate the problem.

A pavement trail that runs through a popular park in town.
Most people jog and bike there.
