      Full body integration functional strength training makes you punch harder without being much slower.

      Lifting weights is a waste of time since you can simply do squats lifting yourself, and more weight than that is counterproductive.

        This is the most detailed breakdown I've seen on the topic;

          There's nothing wrong with weights, just use them for what their worth. 1 day of strength lifting a week isn't bad especially for the legs.

            To each their own but I am another person who does believe in the value of weights. Like another guy said they are supplemental , not the main training. A quality session or two a week does well. Experimentation between weight percentage and reps must be done by the trainee. Ive done high rep low weight and vice versa. Ive found reps between 5 to max 8 at high weight give me the better explosion in boxing. I feel like a heavy machine gun when training.

            As far as the concern for condition or speed loss, thats why you go back to boxing the day after. To refocus those areas and excel.

              Of course I am not a pro but Ive also done some sparring. The pro guys tend to do more weights. They may do boxing in early day and weights late afternoon. Depends on their trainer but thats what Ive seen.
