I feel like i'm going to have to defend myself here because i'm going against the status quo, but i'm prepared to make an argument

Because when I punch, i don't feel the power coming from my legs.

I’ve always noticed that boxers legs aren’t as developed (muscularly) as their upper bodies and assumed it was undesireable. The comment about above about being light on your feet makes sense.

Strong legs are necessary for dominating your opponent in boxing. Running and jumping rope help in strengthening legs, but my coach advised me lot of other exercises too. That include squat, lunges, cycling etc. I found squats best one for strengthening my calves and back. But keeping a correct posture while doing squat is necessary for achieving best from it, so if you want to know how to squat properly then read it https://www.aqfsports.com/blogs/news...s-and-benefits My coach advises me to do lot of exercises but they must not be irrelevant and time wasting.

Yeah, strictly speaking power doesn’t come from your legs. Your punching power can be lost though if your legs are weak. Your legs or any other link in the chain between the traction of your feet on the canvas and the surface of your glove striking your target.

At 140 lbs I out squatted the '89High School football team. 320 lbs.

Gym teacher: Am I going to have to test you?
Me: (I forget what I said)
Gym teacher: You aren't using are you?
Me: (I forget what I said)
              Gym teacher: Steroids
              Me: LMAO!!

I was just running in the mornings and doing the weights class for gym in school. Then I'd go to work and then to boxing. I was kind of surprised myself.

I made it to the Detroit Golden Gloves Open finals that year..….Rockin'

You may not feel it coming from your leg but it is(at least it should be). your legs are the strongest muscle in your body, so not using them to generate power is a massive mistake. It would be hard to truly simulate a punch with 0 leg drive, but imagine trying to punch while sitting down and your legs off the ground, even with a good strong twist from there it won't be nearly as strong as a regular punch.

It takes time to really learn you balance and to be able to “bring your feet with you” as you more forward while throwing combinations.
Novices tend to just throw the upper body into punches compromising their balance.
Don’t dismiss knowledge because you can’t apply it yet. I was a tall lanky kid when I boxed and it took a while before I really understood how
To drive forward or twist my whole body into a hook. But once I did my
Punches were harder and faster because you don’t need to load up as much if you are properly throwing your weight into the shots.
You can do the loading up with your feet and it’s much harder for the opponent to tell.
