So I've found out for training that we definitely have to come with our own gear which in all honesty is something I wanted. On the night we'll have to fight in their either red or trade mark blue but for training I was hoping I could have my own gloves and choose what color they are etc.
Now, I've already decided I'm going to do this but now I'm feeling a little nervous, I don't know why, really I need to stop being a ***** and just do me.
My plan is to go into boxing competitively and I've always said that I'll box in pink trunks with white trim, I want to do this so I'm known as an openly gay boxer, I know that I could just say oh by the way I'm gay if talk on girls hit the gym and my opinion was asked but with fighting in pink in my opinion would be me showing that gay people deserve to be anywhere they want to be, especially for those watching my fights, it would draw attention as it would be unique.
My question is, if you were a WCB competitor like myself, it's day one and a lad walks in, puts on his pink gloves and begins punching bags. How would you take it? I know that any proper competitor should only be focusing on themselves but I'm just a little worried about what my trainer will think etc.
Back in the day Christy Martin boxed in pink and it was pretty much a first, now it's years on, gay people are more accepted and I think me boxing in pink will have a positive impact on the gay community. I'm just getting a bit nervous now it's coming to actually buying my gear in pink, I'm more nervous about that then the fight itself.
Opinions? What would you do if you were my trainer or a competitor at the same gym?
