I'll just mention that I have had two serious head injuries when I was younger and a broken elbow. I can not touch my shoulder. This doesn't really compromise my sports abilities though.

Boxing has changed my life in a way and it's made me fitter and eat properly. It has helped my physique and social confidence massively.
Make sure you're watching boxing too. Be a student of the game.

Head guard is just for protection against cuts and bruises nothing else, dont feel bad for hitting someone without a head guard.
