  • Jabbing Opponents Arms/Shoulders?

Does anyone here advise jabbing or punching your opponents shoulders as a fighting strategy?

I think I remember reading on here that jabbing your opponents right shoulder is a good way to prevent him from throwing a straight right.

What other ways can punching your opponents arms be used?

    Thanks.

not with gloves on, but in a fight punching your opponent once really hard on the elbow when he raises his hands is a good way to numb is arm. if you hit the right spot he wont be able to throw a punch with that hand.

That's what I'm thinking of, numbing the opponents arms so he can no longer punch.

      Anyone got anymore on this?

yes, you can do this in boxing, practice this in sparring, just add it to your targets to hit, many times i see fighters looking for places to hit their opponet and they avoid hitting them on the shoulder or bicep, rocky marciano would hit you anywhere he could and his opponets by the end of the fight couldn't even hold up their hands.

you want somone to not throw their jab at you, hit their shoulder or hit their biceps, you do this in sparring you'll get sparring partners complaining that they hurt their shoulder or their arms hurt. hit them on the forearms too, just remember be carfull not to hit their elbows, though it may hurt them, it also stings and hurt, but its all about setting'em up for punchs you want to deliver or what is their for you to hit.

you see fighters through punch to the body with say a left hook to the body, then usally its a right hand or another left hook to the chin, well change it up, left hook to the body then left hook to the shoulder.

i used to practice this but i didn't do it enough for fear of hurting them, and coach never really let me throw hard most of the time.

but as long as you practice hitting them their, it doesn't have to be with mean intentions but just make sure you learn how to place your punchs their.

yes, you can but a trainer will tell you to tighten your muscles so your fist doesn't go into your face.
