Dead lifts, with a pause at the top of the lift before grounding the bar, are great for strengthening the forarms, with the added bonus that they also strengthen your core muscles.

Yes! the exercise looks like a complete waste of time. Isolation exercises in my opinion should only be used if you are injured, or rehabilitating. The more muscle groups, you can train at once? the better! also the thickness of bars, really trains grip strength!

I noticed when I was looking at GGG's body stats that his forearms are thicker than his biceps, which is very unusual. Here's a video where he demonstrates his grip strength to a journalist.

"A man is only as strong as his hands"

i think most power punchers have big hands, strong wrists and forearms. if you think about the chain reaction of power as it goes through your body, it ends in your hands so if you have weak hands or wrists you will lose a lot of the power that was generated through your body.

i love training just grip sometimes but I have never actually tried this, i will definitely give it a go.

Found out what i was doing wrong....basically the kettlebell i was using was too thick around the handle so i couldn't get my full hand around it the way GGG does in the video so that's why i couldn't do it.

Tried it with a 14kg kettlebell but one with a thinner handle which i could fully get my hand around and can do it, it is challenging tho but i reckon i could just about do a 16kg one. It's a great little exercise though and you deffo feel your forearms tighten up.

For anyone looking to try it i'd recommend making sure the kettlebell you buy/use has a handle which is not too thick around the sides...so you are able to get your hand fully around it.

What do you use to train grip?

You ever try those cheap ebay versions of them captains of crush hand grips?

I got up to a 250lbs gripper on them but then started to get this weird pain on the back of my right hand which just wouldn't go away.

Yeah his forearms are massive, i'd love to see what else he does to train them(apart from wanking like).

Need more GGG training video's and more of him hitting the heavy bag. Love to pick up little things he does whilst training....he's got some unique methods i've never seen before.

Check out this excruciating neck excercise being done by GGG and one of his gym mates, Murat Gassiev maybe? I tried it, managed one rep and had a stiff neck for 3 days, lol.
