Fight in 10 weeks, 0 experience, advices?

  • Fight in 10 weeks, 0 experience, advices?

    I will fight my best friend in 10 weeks and I need some help for my preparation. We both have 0 fighting experience. We both are 28 year old, he's got about 1-2 inch more in reach and size and he has a better cardio. On the plus side, I am more powerful and athletic than him and I beat him in most sports. Right now my training is a 'at home training' just to get my endurance up, I shadow box, speed punch, push ups and squats with no weight. I also plan on taking private lessons once a week or every two week. I have no idea how my friend will train but in general he is on the lazy/last minute side.

    How would you prepare for a fight given that you have one big training session available per week and 30 minutes at home when waking up each day? I need the 20% that will give me the 80% output, in other words I'm looking to maximize my short term result. I am not looking for a slow process that will make me a better fighter in the long run since I don't plan on fighting after that, except if I really like it.

    It will be a 3 round fight, 3 minutes rounds with helmet and a referee. I am 5'6, 157 pounds, I used to be very muscular, at my peak I was 175 pounds 10% body fat, but now I am at my worst form ever and this challenge is also a good reason to get back in shape even tho I don't want to be as muscular as I was.

    I know some of you will find this dumb or not a good way to train for boxing but this is not what this is about. It's a fun challenge between two friend.

    Learn how to throw each punch as well as putting them together. Work on movement. This will be a big factor. If you stand there you will get clobbered. Get shoulder endurance up. If you have access to a heavy bag that is great. If not then just work on your endurance. I recommend that you hold 5 lbs in each hand and stand in a boxing stance. Start out doing that for 1 minute with 15 second rest in between and work up to 3 minutes.

    10 weeks is not enough to learn the basics and get good enough to where you can fight without working on equipment. To summarize, master the 1-2 and stick and move.

      If I am understanding correctly, you only have 30mins a day to train? lol! Well thats not much at all. 3rds is a long time to fight but if its not that serious you should do lots of burpees, sprint for 3mins at a time (5 sets), and work on volume punching on the heavy bag on different days. As far as technique, just circle away from his strong hand but with the little fight experience, I will assume your guys feet/legs will tangle up. In a fight like, this, the winner will be the one that doesnt tire, because its only 3rds focus on anaerobics...

        Either,
        1) Go to a private boxing coach (and don't tell him what you're doing this for).
        2) Choose a bet that doesn't involve getting hit in the head because it sounds like you need to preserve whatever you've got left up there.

          I don't Know why your doing as it sounds like you have no experience, or care to really learn, quite frankly this isn't a good idea, and seems completely pointless.

          But if I was in your place, I'd focus on doing sprints 3 times a week. Start low amd build up more with esch session, eventuslly sprinting up hills. There quick to do, and will train your body to recover when your tired.

          Take 2 ******s who don't know how to fight and the guy who can outlast the other one will usually win.

          Your not going to learn much once per week training, even what you do learn you won't be good at. So yeah, focus on conditioning. your both going to gas out quick, so if you recover quicker, you'll win most likely. Gluck

            3 minute rounds? LMAO. If you can say your full name (first, middle and last) straight through after the first round I would be surprised.

                Bowling is a nice sport, its air conditioned and there's food available while you play! You can have a beer and tell each other lies about your boxing abilities!
                Darts is also a good match up, might be to dangerous though........

                    Get in the best shape you can get, cause ur gonna punch urself out. Everybody says they arent, but their first fight they always do. Just have fun and dont beat urself up on ur performance.
