Didn't Jake Gyllenhaal get in shape for Southpaw by doing like 1000 pushups a day? It gave him ripped arms, didn't make him a boxer though

Anyway, I was trying to say that punching is better than doing pushups. I don't see the point of going all-out on pushups on a regular basis if you have access to bags/mitts? I don't wanna be pushup champion of the world, I wanna be a better boxer; pushups are part of conditioning but it's not the end-goal is what I'm getting at
I agree but I do think push ups and other calisthenics/weight training are good for strengthening muscle groups that contribute overall to every aspect of boxing. I DONT however think they are good for stamina, the only way to increase stamina for boxing is boxing.

You can't get muscles beyond certain "toned shape" by punching. Gotta do some muscle works at least the minimum amount. Doing none at all doesn't seem to be a good idea. Gotta have the minimum tool to use.

I was told that "more muscles" help building endurance. To last 10 rounds punching, the arms gotta be some minimum size.

That said, I just wanted to pipe in and say that I agree with Berkay1 - I don't think pushups>punching. If you want to get better at punching, do some punching
Can you give me the link?

Doing pushup seems like a essential workout from what I read on pro boxer workout routine. But since you don't want to be a pro and just mediocre, I guess 20 pushup is good. Idk how you want to last 10 round but not get hit.

Doing push up with no weight build just enough strength along with muscle endurance. Strengthen the cores also, while workout multiple muscles, like Chest, tricep and shoulders (Depending on how you do it.

This is a good read. Remove "dot" and add "."

Go as low as you can, don't rush, and engage your muscles. Even your core.

Was just wondering the point in doing push up in such a way. I don't get what all the fusses about "correct" push up is about. I suppose I will focus more on the form tomorrow when I do push up. Taking a break from exercises (although my usual exercises are nowhere near these guys in load, even those are hard when you are losing weight with low stamina) today.

Push ups strengthen your chest, triceps, and shoulders, equally as opposed to bench press and some other workouts which can create imbalances in your muscles. That's why some people who work out have bad posture, they aren't balancing out their muscle groups. There is a give and take with everything.

My posture isn't that bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEnnCNecwgY I just don't get the fuss about the markers like "chest touching the floor" & "elbows straightening all the way".

Your posture is terrible, start by not sagging to the ground and also straighten your body.

Yup. Use your CORE to keep your posture straight. Looks like you started to do half a push up after a few reps.

                      Example:
